KöR Teeth Whitening
When you look at someone, often the first thing you notice is their smile. An attractive, white smile gives a great first impression, and professional teeth whitening by Dr. Rebecca Hartfield can help you achieve that goal.
If your teeth are darker than you want them to be, professional whitening (or bleaching) may be a great option for you. At Dr. Rebecca Hartfield’s office, we use the KöR whitening system to get the best results possible from our whitening treatment.
Why Your Teeth Discolor Over Time
People can have yellow, dark, or dull teeth for a number of reasons, including:
- Dark foods and drinks (like blueberries and wine)
- Tobacco use
- Certain medications
The procedure to whiten teeth is very simple. The first step is to make impressions of your top teeth and your bottom teeth (your upper and lower arches). These impressions are used to make models that are then used to create vacuum-formed custom trays to fit each arch.
The next step is for you to take the trays home and bleach at home for two weeks. This involves placing a small amount of the KöR take-home bleach into the custom trays and wearing them overnight. After the take-home bleach has had a chance to clean out the more superficial staining, an in-office procedure can be done to whiten the teeth further if desired.
About the KöR Whitening System
The KöR Whitening system is one of the most effective whitening systems available. The KöR bleaching gels are kept refrigerated from the time they are manufactured until they arrive at the dental office to maintain their greatest effectiveness.
The KöR Whitening system is safe, so you can whiten at any age once you have all your adult teeth. Everyone will whiten a little differently but the KöR Whitening system is able to achieve dramatic results. Even stubborn tetracycline-stained teeth will respond to KöR Whitening and show a significant improvement.
The KöR Whitening system and easy periodic home maintenance provide long-lasting results. As long as you keep up with the at home maintenance once or twice a month, the whitening is entirely permanent. You can even continue to eat and drink your favorite dark foods and beverages.
The KöR Whitening system works on natural teeth and will not lighten any artificial materials such as fillings or crowns. If you are planning to get a crown or a filling on your front teeth, it is best to whiten first so we can match the crown/filling to your new whiter shade. If you have existing crowns/fillings on your teeth, it may be necessary to redo them if they look too dark next to your new whiter teeth.
